In my earlier blog I criticised the Dublin Archdiocese, its Archbishop and its "spokesperson" for not publishing in English an Address that Dr. Martin gave in Italian last week. At last the "speaking notes" have been published on the Archdiocese's website and may be read HERE.
I am very happy to draw attention to it and commend it to your study. I think the Archbishop makes some very salient points regarding the modern tendency, in many places and not only in Ireland, for some people to form a Church in their own image. That tendency is often reflected, in my humble opinion, in groups such as "we are Church" etc as well as among self-seeking, opinionated persons to be found in many parishes groups as well as among bishops and clergy. Pace all the many self-effacing, humble church workers to be found everywhere but who are not heard because they quietly get on with their work. Non nobis, Domine, no nobis, sed Nomine Tuo da gloriam.
The delay in publishing the notes is lamentable. But "better late than never!", as the old man said when he went to join boy scouts.
